Brief Overview of Position
The Petroleum Engineer is positioned within Credit Administration and is integral to the success of the Energy Lending line of business it supports, helping to drive the strategic vision set forth by Texas Capital Bank.
The Petroleum Engineer with Texas Capital Bank has the responsibility for providing engineering analysis of oil and gas producing assets to be used as the basis for energy lending. The engineering function is critical to providing an accurate assessment of credit risk for reserve based loans. In many respects, the engineer performs similar to an independent consultant with the responsibility to provide detailed and accurate engineering assessments of present value and projected future net cash flows.
In addition to engineering responsibilities, the Petroleum Engineer with Texas Capital Bank is required to maintain excellent working relationships. It is critical for the engineering team to maintain a high level of credibility within the Bank’s management group. It is also critical to maintain excellent working relationships with customers to promote ongoing business relationships and to foster future growth. Texas Capital Bank is very relationship based and that philosophy must be included in the engineering function.
Responsibilities

To be successful in this role, candidates must be able to process large amounts of information and communicate in a clear and concise manner, all while maintaining a strong attention to detail. Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Performing engineering evaluations in support of energy loans involving oil and gas producing and related mid-stream assets.
  • Detailed analysis of historical lease operating expenses, pricing differentials, and capital expenditures
  • Application of general petroleum engineering principles
  • Utilizing previous engineering experience in making critical engineering decisions
  • Assessment, quantification, and explanation of the associated future value risks
  • Working within a strong team environment
  • Developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with Energy Lending line of business, Credit organization and Energy Lending customers
  • Support of the Energy Group’s marketing efforts, including some travel for in-person bank and client meetings.

Qualifications

  • B.S. degree in Engineering
  • Minimum of 5 years of petroleum engineering experience with strong background in reservoir engineering and property evaluation
  • Exceptional writing, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Effective team players who want to work in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and build working relationships across the organization
  • Proficient in Petroleum Economic Evaluation Software – PHDWin and Aries.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills including Outlook, Excel, and Word to produce reports, memos, and presentations
