Role Accountabilities Apply advanced engineering techniques and methods using international design standards (including Australian, UK, US, and Middle East codes), council standards, client specifications, and project briefs. Review and produce detailed calculations, drawings, and reports to support key pipeline design deliverables, including hydraulic calculations, pipe wall thickness calculations, stress analysis, Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), trench calculations, construction maps / pipeline key plans, pipeline alignment sheets, Right-of-Way (ROW) Drawings, general arrangement drawings, isometric drawings, crossing details, tie-in drawings, typical detail drawings, Hazard and Operability (HAZOP) registers, bill of materials and bill of quantities Ensure all project documents are accurate, clear, concise, and fully compliant with applicable standards, local regulations, industry best practices, and project-specific quality requirements. Oversee and/or prepare the project’s detailed design and calculations. Supervise design and drawing preparation processes, ensuring effective and efficient use of design resources. Conduct internal reviews and quality checks of engineering drawings and calculations to ensure compliance with project requirements. Participate in and resolve complex technical design issues as they arise. Identify risks and potential deviations from the project’s required scope of work, and develop mitigation strategies. Provide leadership, direction, and technical advice to project team members. Liaise with other disciplines within the Energy and Resources Project Team to ensure full coordination and understanding of requirements. Regularly communicate with Design Managers and the Technical Director to stay informed of all project developments or changes. Deliver technically complete design documentation, summary reports, and technical reports that meet client objectives and Arcadis system requirements. Qualifications and Experience At least 8 years of experience as a Pipeline Engineer, with a minimum of 5 years in an engineering leadership role and recognized industry capability. Consulting experience in oil and gas pipeline design projects in Australia, the UK, the Middle East, the Philippines, or similar markets. Proficient in producing CAD documentation to Australian Utility Standards and other international design standards, utilizing tools such as SmartPlant P&ID, AutoCAD, Revit, and MicroStation. Experience across the full utility project lifecycle, from concept stage to construction and as-built drawings. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant discipline from a recognized university. Ranked in the top 20% of the engineering class. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Strong mathematical skills applied to engineering calculations. Demonstrated leadership, with strong influencing, motivating, and delegating abilities. Strong organizational skills and a proactive approach to project management. Commitment to ongoing personal and technical development, including staying abreast of emerging technologies through regular CPD training. Highly Regarded Skills Knowledge and experience with GIS platforms such as QGIS, ArcGIS, etc. Experience with drafting standards and advanced CAD functionalities. Proficiency in computational design, design algorithms, and automation of data manipulation. Experience in Stress Analysis is preferred. Why Arcadis?
