Responsibilities

At HG, our team of experienced planners aim to create resilient communities by delivering quality urban forms and enhancing our environment in a way that we can all be proud of. We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Planner with people leadership experience to join our team in Hamilton.
This is a key role to shape the future of our urban environments. From small and unique to complex and large scale, you’ll lead diverse projects that include strategic and policy planning, resource consenting and designations as well as feasibility and advisory services.
You will work closely with our multi-disciplinary teams, including engineers, urban designers and environmental specialists to enhance our environment and deliver integrated planning solutions.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide technical leadership, project management and people leadership to a team of planners and to deliver a range of major urban development and infrastructure projects.
  • Provide best-practice planning advice and strategic solutions that balance the needs of our clients with the broader community and the environment.
  • Support professional development within the team through mentorship and guidance in an environment that encourages knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
  • Maintain existing client relationships and drive business development initiatives such as leveraging your existing network and identifying opportunities to enhance HG’s future project prospects.
  • Work alongside the Planning Manager in the implementation of the regional strategic business plan including growth strategy, business development, marketing strategies and budget targets as well as demonstrating and embedding values and expected behaviours.
  • Be a recognised urban development leader, stay up to date with industry changes or amendments and relay these changes across the business.
