Job Description The Senior Planning Engineer will be responsible for the preparation, coordination, and monitoring of project schedules, ensuring effective planning, progress measurement, and forecasting throughout all stages of the construction supervision works. The role involves close coordination with the supervision team, contractor, and client to ensure that project milestones are achieved and potential delays are identified and mitigated in a timely manner. Key Responsibilities Develop, maintain, and update project schedules using Primavera P6 or equivalent planning software, covering design, procurement, and construction stages. Review and evaluate the Contractor’s baseline programme, ensuring compliance with contract requirements, sequencing logic, and resource allocation. Monitor and analyze the progress of construction activities, identifying variances from the plan and proposing corrective actions. Coordinate with the Resident Engineer and supervision team to verify progress on site and ensure updates are accurately reflected in the schedule. Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, highlighting key activities, milestones achieved, delays, risks, and recovery measures. Evaluate and verify the Contractor’s Extension of Time (EOT) claims, delay analyses, and revised programmes in accordance with contract procedures. Develop progress measurement systems and performance indicators to support project control and reporting. Conduct trend analyses and “what-if” scenarios to assess the impact of changes and recommend mitigation plans. Support the preparation of cash flow forecasts, resource histograms, and manpower projections. Coordinate planning deliverables with Cost Control, Engineering, Procurement, and Construction teams to ensure consistency and accuracy. Participate in progress and coordination meetings, presenting schedule status and recovery strategies to the client and stakeholders. Assist the Project Manager and Construction Manager in risk identification and mitigation planning. Ensure compliance with AECOM’s Project Management and Controls procedures, including proper documentation and data integrity. Provide mentorship and support to junior planners and site engineers in planning and scheduling techniques. Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline. Certification in Primavera P6 is mandatory. Professional accreditation or membership in a recognized engineering or project management institution (e.g., PMI, AACEI) is an advantage. Strong knowledge of Dubai Authority procedures (RTA, DM, DEWA) preferred. Experience Requirements Minimum 10 years of post-graduate experience in project planning, scheduling, and progress monitoring for infrastructure and utilities projects. Proven experience in developing and managing complex project schedules for stormwater, microtunneling, sewerage, and roadworks projects. Strong understanding of EOT evaluation, critical path analysis (CPA), and resource-loaded schedules. Hands-on experience in Primavera P6, MS Excel, and other project control tools. Prior UAE experience is essential, with preference for candidates familiar with RTA and Dubai Municipality projects. Strong analytical, communication, and reporting skills with the ability to present technical data clearly to management and clients.
