The Ministry of Indigenous Relations is dedicated to advancing stronger relationships between the provincial government and Indigenous communities, organizations and people. One of the Indigenous Women’s Initiatives (IWI) division’s key focus areas is addressing violence and increasing safety and economic security of Indigenous women, girls and two spirit, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, questioning, intersex and asexual plus (2S+) people. This work includes providing secretariat support to the Premier’s Council on Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women, Girls and Two Spirit Plus (2S+) People. The division also administers) the Alberta Indigenous Intern Program (AIIP) which aims to increase Indigenous employment within GoA and strengthen relationships with community.
