About Us | Mō mātou   The Local Government Policy, Partnerships and Operations Group is the Government’s lead advisor on the local government system. We blend local government expertise and specialised policy advice in a period of significant change, challenge and opportunity. It’s a great time to join us with lots of interesting changes going on in the sector.  The Operational Policy team is one of five teams within the Group, and provides strategic, practical advice that shapes how government decisions are implemented. We are not what you might think of as a traditional operational policy team — instead, we work directly with Ministers and senior leaders to respond to emerging issues and provide clear, timely advice both proactively and reactively.  The role | Te tūnga   As a Senior Policy Analyst in the Operational Policy team, you will provide high-quality strategic and practical policy advice on a diverse and fast-moving portfolio affecting the local government sector. Our broad and dynamic work programme includes:  * Administration of the Dog Control Act  * Providing advice on Crown intervention to the Minister of Local Government   * Supporting the Minister in performing their role as Territorial Authority for the offshore islands   * Monitoring and support of Chatham Islands Council    * Conduit between local and central government for the local elections.   It is a fast-paced but fun environment where you never know what will happen next!
