Assisted Living and Social Services (ALSS) helps provide stability and security for vulnerable Albertans, including seniors, people with disabilities, low-income individuals and those facing homelessness, while also providing opportunities to foster independence and quality of life. This includes supporting the delivery of preventive programming and helping Albertans access disability services, homelessness supports, financial assistance and employment services, seniors supports and other social-based programs.

This competition will be used to fill multiple positions within the Strategic Projects and Program Transformation branch, which works with all orders of government and agencies, and individuals across the province to deliver a continuum of preventive, community-based supports and services for the safety and well-being of Albertans. The positions support homelessness responses and preventive social policy initiatives including Family and Community Support Services, Service Dogs, and other priorities.

Responsibilities

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

These positions work collaboratively with other Strategic Projects and Program Transformation (SPPT) team members to ensure that information and data from multiple sources is integrated and translated into guidance that drives policy design and program funding decisions for responses supporting vulnerable Albertans.
In these roles, the Senior Policy Analysts are responsible for developing and leading complex projects, conducting research and analysis, and participating in and facilitating cross-ministry and stakeholder engagement on branch priorities.

ADDITIONAL KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SENIOR POLICY ANALYST ROLE, PROGRAM POLICY INITIATIVES UNIT:

  • Conduct comprehensive research and analysis of existing legislation, programs, and emerging issues to provide expert advice and make recommendations based on quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Proactively lead the development of program policy to support department, division and branch priorities, including analyzing issues to address homelessness and provide prevention based supports.
  • Develop policy options and recommendations for branch leadership.
  • Coordinate and provide advice on intergovernmental initiatives.

ADDITIONAL KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SENIOR POLICY ANALYST ROLE, DATA AND ANALYTICS UNIT:

  • Oversee data collection, management, and reporting from service providers.
  • Collaborate with branch staff and service providers to manage issues and inquiries related to data collection, data management and reporting.
  • Use program data to produce intelligence products for distribution within the division and with key partners.
  • Troubleshoot technical data and system maintenance issues for the division applications and reporting tools. Conduct data analysis to support performance monitoring, strategic planning and guide program funding decisions.
  • Develop tools (including dashboards, reports and processes) for program monitoring, evaluation and continuous improvement.
