JOB SUMMARY

Join Ofgem at the forefront of tackling some of the biggest challenges facing the energy industry, from combating energy theft to shaping the rules that keep the market fair and secure. We’re looking for a Senior Policy Lead to head high-profile projects, influence industry codes, and drive forward policies that protect energy consumers and strengthen the industry.
Ofgem is Great Britain’s independent energy regulator. We’re at the forefront of change across the energy sector, driving toward Net Zero whilst protecting energy consumers, especially vulnerable people.
This is a full-time, flexible opportunity to work on some of the most pressing issues facing the energy industry today. You will gain invaluable experience across a wide range of policy areas, from smart metering to the regulation of industry codes, while playing a visible role in protecting consumers and ensuring market integrity. It’s your chance to make a tangible impact on energy consumers and support the UK’s transition to a more secure, low-carbon energy system.
Leading existing and new programmes to combat energy theft and strengthen engagement with the Smart Energy Code and Retail Energy Code, you will cover diverse areas such as gas, electricity, data, security, and consumer issues. Across a varied portfolio of engaging and vital project areas, your contribution will be central to delivering our objectives.

JOB DESCRIPTION

We’re looking for someone with strong industry code knowledge and proven experience in policy development, as well as a track record of delivering projects to challenging deadlines. Whether your background is with an energy supplier, DNO, or even the Department for Energy Security and Net Zero, you’ll discover that this is the perfect chance to grow and develop at the forefront of the energy sector.
In return, we offer an environment where your expertise will be valued, and a rewards package that focuses on valuable benefits, the creation of a positive work/life balance (with flexible and hybrid working), and plenty of opportunities for ongoing professional development.
We have a critical mission to ensure the smooth and secure operation of the energy market while safeguarding consumers. By joining Ofgem, you’ll help shape policy in high-profile areas, address current market challenges, and contribute to the industry’s journey towards Net Zero.
