  • Support the development and delivery of high-profile, priority projects within Youth Justice, including supporting the the Council on Bail, Rehabilitation and Accountability (COBRA).
  • Work as part of a high performing team to deliver strategic policy and project advice to support implementation of government priorities.
    The Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) is responsible for the supervision of children and young people in the Victorian criminal justice system. Youth Justice is responsible for overseeing services within custody and the community that respond to children and young people in the system, and for delivering strategic outcomes to address youth crime and reduce offending.
    Reporting to the Manager, Priority Projects, this role is responsible for driving priority youth justice projects and reforms, including supporting the work of the Council on Bail, Rehabilitation and Accountability (COBRA).

The Opportunity

  • Fixed term, full-time position (2 years) based in Melbourne.
  • VPS Grade 5 role: $113,022 - $136,747 per year plus superannuation.
  • Provide policy analysis and advice, including the identification of emerging issues, opportunities, risks and trends impacting on the achievement of complex and sensitive programs, initiatives and reforms.
  • Implement priority reforms to enable the successful delivery and completion of projects within quality, resourcing and timeline parameters.
  • Contribute to the positive cross-departmental interactions as part the secretariat functions of COBRA to influence reform opportunities across government.
  • Proactively build, engage and maintain positive stakeholder relationships and communication channels, using informal and formal methods of communication, including the preparation of complex reports, briefings and presentations to influence senior stakeholders to achieve project objectives.

To be successful in this role you will have experience or knowledge in project and/or policy design.
You will be required to obtain a Working with Children Check, which you will need to maintain for the period of employment.
