EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND

  • BASc, MEng, or MASc in Chemical Engineering, Engineering Chemistry, Polymer Science, Polymer Chemistry, or Materials Science & Engineering.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • 5–10 years of industrial polymer research or engineering experience, with a strong focus on extrusion and compounding.
  • Proven experience designing and scaling polymer extrusion processes for commercial applications.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Expertise in polymer processing techniques, particularly twin-screw extrusion, compounding, and reactive extrusion.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of polymer chemistry, including polymerization, structure-property relationships, and additive technologies.
  • Thorough understanding of principles relevant to synthesis, formulation, additives, and compounding technologies.
  • Hands-on mechanical skills to execute laboratory work, understand plant issues, and generate process solutions for scale-up.

SOFT SKILLS

  • Strong project and time management skills with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interfacing with internal teams, customers, and suppliers.
  • Proven ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment with engineers, scientists, and technicians.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS (PREFERRED)

  • Experience with functionalized polymer development and reactive extrusion.
  • Familiarity with scaling up and optimizing extrusion processes for cost-effective manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of polymer composites, blends, and compatibilization strategies.
  • Knowledge of ISO-certified manufacturing environments and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities:

ROLE

Myant X seeks a forward-thinking and results-driven Extrusion Engineer to lead experimental extrusion research, develop scalable extrusion processes, and commercialize advanced material solutions. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in advancing polymer processing capabilities, including reactive extrusion and functionalized polymer structures. This role also involves managing multiple projects, expanding in-house extrusion capabilities, collaborating with external partners, and supporting the installation of new extrusion equipment to scale operations.
