Senior Practice Lead – Nurse Prescribing Program The Senior Practice Lead is a provincial leadership role within Health Professions Practice, reporting to the Director of Nursing Professional Practice in the Associate Chief Nursing Officer’s office. This position is responsible for leading the nurse prescribing training and implementation across PHAS, providing specialized expertise and leadership to support the safe and effective integration of nurse prescribing into practice. In this role, the Senior Practice Lead performs all consultant-level functions, translating the established plan of care into action, applying evidence-based practices, ensuring continuity of care, consulting on authorization applications, supporting implementation in various practice settings, and participate the development of clinical support tools, process improvements, and evaluation strategies. The Senior Practice Lead also develops, reviews, implements, and evaluates provincial initiatives related to nurse prescribing, fosters interprofessional collaboration, and provides expert counsel to senior leaders across the organization. This role represents nursing at the provincial level, ensuring that the Nurse Prescribing Program is aligned with the vision, mission, and business plan of Alberta Health Services.
Description:
The Senior Practice Lead develops and maintains strong working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and relies on awareness of the broad provincial context in order to provide consultation service and leadership throughout the organization. This position establishes and maintains positive relationships with key local, provincial and national representatives and health care stakeholders including regulatory bodies and post-secondary institutions. The Senior Practice Lead is AHS’s primary resource for external stakeholders on all matters related to the discipline(s). The Senior Practice Lead is also responsible for: Provincial leadership for professional practice for their discipline(s) across the care continuum. Development of health interprofessional and discipline specific policy, standards and guidelines that align with strategic provincial direction. Participation in planning, implementing and evaluating strategic initiatives in close collaboration with identified planning and operational groups. Coordination and leadership of discipline specific and interprofessional practice change initiatives across the province.
