Description
The Allegro team is united by a clear purpose—advancing technologies that make the world safer, more efficient, and more sustainable. With over 30 years of experience in semiconductor innovation, we bring that purpose to life across every part of the business—from breakthrough product development and customer success to how we show up for each other and the communities we serve. The Opportunity The Senior Principal Analog Design Engineer will be a key contributor to the design and development of analog integrated circuits for Allegro's next-generation motor driver and power management products. This role requires deep expertise in analog integrated circuit design, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to lead technical initiatives within a dynamic and collaborative environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for the full lifecycle of analog IC development, from concept to silicon validation, ensuring high-performance, robust, and cost-effective solutions for automotive and industrial motor drive and power management applications. What You Will Do Lead the architectural definition, design, simulation, and layout supervision of motor driver/power management integrated circuit and sub-blocks, such as HS/LS gate drivers, amplifiers, charge pumps, bandgap references, regulators, ADCs, DACs, serial interfaces, and diagnostics. Drive the definition of analog circuit blocks based on system-level requirements and specifications, collaborating closely with system architects, digital designers, and test engineers. Perform detailed transistor-level circuit design, including schematic capture, simulation (e.g., Spectre, HSPICE), and verification using advanced EDA tools. Oversee and guide layout engineers to ensure optimal performance, matching, and robustness of analog circuits. Conduct comprehensive pre-silicon verification, including corner simulations, Monte Carlo analysis, noise analysis, and reliability checks. Develop and implement innovative analog circuit solutions to meet challenging performance, power, and area targets. Participate in silicon bring-up, characterization, and debugging, working closely with test and product engineering teams to ensure successful product launch. Mentor junior and staff engineers, providing technical guidance and fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence. Contribute to intellectual property generation through invention disclosures and patent applications. Stay abreast of industry trends, new technologies, and design methodologies to continuously improve design practices. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including marketing, systems, digital design, verification, validation, test, program management and manufacturing to ensure seamless product development. Participate and help in sourcing and hiring strong talent for Allegro. What You Will Bring Master's or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or a related field. 10+ years of experience in analog IC design, with a proven track record of successful product tape-outs in a semiconductor company. Deep expertise in the design of various analog building blocks, such as gate drivers, amplifiers, charge pumps, bandgap references, regulators, ADCs, DACs, and serial interfaces. Extensive experience with Cadence design tools (Virtuoso, Spectre, ADE-XL) and strong proficiency in analog simulation and verification methodologies. Solid understanding of semiconductor device physics, process technologies (e.g., BCD, CMOS), and their impact on circuit performance. Experience with motor driver IC and power management ICs is highly desirable. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to debug complex analog circuits. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment and mentor others. Ability to lead technical projects and drive design decisions. Preferred Qualifications Experience with automotive qualification standards (e.g., AEC-Q100). Familiarity with functional safety concepts (e.g., ISO 26262). Experience with mixed-signal verification methodologies. Proficiency in leveraging AI and scripting languages (e.g., Python, Perl) for design automation and data analysis. Prior experience in a principal or lead design role. Why Allegro? Join Allegro and become part of a team where your contributions truly matter.
