In this role you drive advanced hydraulic and hydrological modelling to support flood risk and infrastructure projects across the North. You will lead modelling strategy, ensure technical quality, and push innovation while shaping the team’s capability. Responsibilities

  • Lead development, calibration and review of 1D/2D hydraulic models using Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, InfoWorks or similar software
  • Act as Technical Lead on major flood risk and infrastructure projects
  • Provide expert advice to clients, project teams and stakeholders
  • Oversee hydrological assessments and flood risk studies
  • Ensure modelling outputs inform appraisal, business cases and engineering design
  • Manage project delivery, quality, budgets and programmes
  • Support bids and framework opportunities across the region
  • Mentor and develop junior engineers, modellers and graduates
  • Contribute to technical innovation and best practice across the business

Key requirements

  • Strong experience in hydraulic modelling and flood risk assessment
  • Expertise in Flood Modeller, TUFLOW, InfoWorks or equivalent platforms
  • Solid understanding of UK flood risk policy, FCERM guidance and regulatory requirements
  • Experience leading technical teams and managing project delivery
  • Excellent stakeholder and client-facing skills
  • Passion for mentoring and developing others
  • Chartered status (ICE, CIWEM or equivalent) is desirable but not essential for the right candidate
