A little more about your role… Due to our expanding public sector workload and recent appointment to a major National Highways framework, we are seeking a Senior or Principal Transport Planner to join our Transport Planning & Mobility team. Working as part of a highly integrated, multidisciplinary team of planners, engineers and modellers, and collaborating across WSP’s UK offices, you will play a key role in the delivery of our transport and spatial planning portfolio. You contribute to transport planning and infrastructure projects across our portfolio including major projects and National Highways commissions in the North of England. This role is based in our Manchester office, with hybrid working allowing for a mix of office and home working. If you are interested in these opportunities with WSP but would need a different home office to Manchester, then please contact Andrew.Trueman@wsp.com to discuss options.   Key responsibilities include: * Contribute to the delivery of transport and spatial planning projects, ensuring technical excellence, policy compliance and alignment with client objectives.  * A focus on technical project delivery including engagement with wider disciplines, client and stakeholders * Delivery of transport modelling projects, tasks and studies  * Providing leadership and guidance to junior staff, contributing to technical capability building within the Transport & Mobility Planning team * Commercial management of projects and tasks, ensuring programme and budget constraints are achieved * Making a visible contribution to WSP’s four key pillars: People; Clients & Growth; Operations; and Expertise. Working closely with wider team and supporting the professional development of our junior staff you will be an important member of our Transport & Mobility team. What we will be looking for you to demonstrate…   * Experience in transport, development or spatial planning  * An understanding of the UK planning system, including national and local policy, and transport assessment requirements.  * Ability to lead small projects and technical tasks, manage competing priorities and meet commercial requirements.  * Experience contributing to multi-tier modelling projects including use of local junction modelling, microsimulation modelling and strategic modelling  * Experience of developing concept options and familiarity with UK highway design standards * Experience of client and stakeholder engagement, including presenting complex information clearly to technical and nontechnical audiences.  * Commercial awareness, including budget management, forecasting and fee development.  * Strong analytical capability, with experience interpreting transport data and evidence   * The ability to produce high quality technical reports and clear public facing documentation    Don't quite meet all the criteria?
