Ongoing full-time opportunity Work in a value-driven organisation committed to openness and accountability to safeguard democracy About the Role The Senior Privacy and Legislative Compliance Officer is responsible for ensuring adherence to privacy and data governance and legislative requirements across the NSW Electoral Commission. The role provides advice on and implements and maintains privacy and data governance practices to support alignment with relevant government statutes, policies and frameworks. This role is an ongoing full-time position. Our work includes: Running and regulating elections Communicating and engaging with current and future voters, key NSW community stakeholders and NSW election participants; and Investigating possible offences and enforcing electoral and lobbying laws such as the Electoral Act 2017 and the Electoral Funding Act 2018. Experience with privacy by design (including carrying out privacy impact assessments), privacy audits, privacy and data governance risk management. Experience in implementing and managing data governance. Strong organisational and analytical skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proven ability to effectively advise senior stakeholders. Experience in managing multiple priorities and ability to work independently and as part of a team. Essential requirements Relevant tertiary or recognised industry qualifications and/or professional experience. Politically neutral with no current or past affiliation to political parties or lobbyists/third party campaigners. Satisfactory Criminal Record check result.
