He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Process Commissioning Engineer to join our high performing team. Reporting to the Operations Commissioning Manager, you will provide senior process commissioning leadership across a diverse capital water and wastewater portfolio. You will play a critical role in ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient transition of assets from construction into operations. This role works to safeguard Watercare’s operational performance by leading commissioning governance, overseeing performance verification, and ensuring seamless entry to service. Working at the interface between capital delivery and operations, you will influence outcomes, protect compliance, reduce delivery risk, and optimise long-term treatment performance. Key responsibilities include: Leading commissioning strategy across multiple concurrent projects. Provide independent technical and process expertise during design construction and handover. Lead process performance verification and sign-off. Influence design to optimise commissionability and performance. Build strong cross-functional relationships across the business. Drive continuous improvement of commissioning framework and promote across projects. Mentor staff and build commissioning capability across Watercare and its delivery partners. Ngā pūkenga e rapu nei mātou | About you To be successful in this role, you will have: At least six years commissioning experience within complex infrastructure or industrial environments. Strong understanding of process performance optimisation. Demonstrated ability to lead, influence, and build effective relationships across diverse stakeholder groups. Knowledge of NZ Health and safety legislation, systems, standards and requirements. Experience with water and/or wastewater processes is desirable. A tertiary qualification in Engineering or a related field. Be a chartered professional or willing to progress towards this.
