We now have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Process Design Engineer to join us in our Engineering & Technical Solutions team in Melbourne or Brisbane on a Permanent Full Time basis. Reporting to the Lead Engineer – Mechanical and Pipeline, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality process design solutions across a range of engineering projects. You will apply your technical expertise to solve complex engineering challenges, support project delivery, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant outcomes. Key Responsibilities Lead the design, development, and optimisation of process engineering solutions across APA's gas transmission, processing, and energy infrastructure projects. Provide specialist technical expertise to solve complex process engineering challenges, ensuring designs are safe, reliable, efficient, and compliant with relevant standards. Develop and review process engineering deliverables, including process flow diagrams (PFDs), P&IDs, heat and material balances, process calculations, and design documentation. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, and key stakeholders to deliver engineering projects from concept through to commissioning and operational handover. Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, innovation, and optimisation to enhance asset performance, operational efficiency, and project outcomes. Your background Degree qualified in Chemical or Process Engineering, with significant experience in process design within the oil & gas, energy, utilities, or a related heavy industry. Demonstrated experience developing and reviewing process engineering deliverables, including PFDs, P&IDs, process simulations, hydraulic calculations, and design documentation. Strong understanding of relevant Australian and international engineering standards, safety in design principles, and engineering governance. Proven ability to lead technical investigations, solve complex engineering problems, and provide expert advice across multidisciplinary project teams. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and influence technical outcomes across projects and operations.
