Job Description

Joining our established and expanding Nuclear team as a Senior Process Engineer means engaging in a diverse and growing array of UK-based projects. This role offers the opportunity to participate in multi-disciplinary projects at various stages of their lifecycle, from client consultancy to delivering comprehensive engineering design solutions. Your responsibilities will include client interaction, preparing bids and proposals, and overseeing project delivery in line with AECOM’s standards for quality, safety, and environmental care.
Our established multi-disciplinary nuclear SQEP team, based across the UK, has been delivering fit-for-purpose solutions across the full spectrum of the nuclear sector for over 50 years. Here’s what we’re looking for:

The successful Engineer will have/be:

  • Either:
  • BSc /BEng Chemical Engineering (Hons) and working towards Chartered Member with the IChemE, or
  • Chartered Member with the IChemE,
  • 5 years of experience working as a Process Engineer in a regulated and quality assured industry.
  • Full UK driving license.
  • Able to meet the requirements for security clearance in the UK.
  • Demonstrable evidence of roles where your engineering knowledge is a key attribute.
  • Demonstrable record of successful implementation and delivery of process engineering work packages.

Responsibilities
  • Delivery of key process engineering deliverables as part of a wider multidiscipline team, these include:
  • Process Descriptions,
  • Basis of Design,
  • Process Flow Diagrams,
  • Process & Instrumentation Diagram,
  • Process & Instrument Data Sheets & schedules,
  • Underpinning design calculations,
  • Material and Enthalpy Balances,
  • Design Justification Reports.
  • Ensuring that own work meets the necessary legislative and company and projects requirements.
  • Ensuring that the process design complies with health and safety standards by utilising a Safety in Design approach.
  • Planning and prioritisation of own work in line with the project programme(s).
  • Development of early careers staff, via support, guidance and checking of work.
  • Responsible as a ‘Designer’ under the CDM 2015 regulations.
  • Supporting Safety Case development via engineering substantiation.
  • Pragmatic approach to problem solving and ability to apply ‘Engineering Fit for Purpose Judgement’ where appropriate.
  • Liaising with other discipline engineers to ensure a fully integrated multidiscipline design.
  • Communication of design development in project meetings and in written reports.
