REQUIRED EDUCATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Process Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Must have a minimum of 7 to 10 years in the cement industry working as a process engineer.

EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES YOU WILL NEED:

  • Ability to work with all levels at the plant as well as with corporate management and technical teams.
  • Understanding of complex mechanical and electrical technology and equipment.
  • Achievement oriented, strong work ethic, tenacious, impeccable attention to detail.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Microsoft applications including Windows and Office applications experience is required.
  • Capable to do statistical correlation between quality and process
  • Knowledge of the manufacturing process of the company (cement, block, concrete etc.) and its elements
  • Full knowledge of all the technology and trends
  • Knowledge of the main indicators of efficiency and effectiveness of manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of materials and energy balance in and grinding calcination processes
  • Knowledge systems of continuous improvement, analysis tools and troubleshooting
  • Advanced statistics and lean manufacturing /black belt knowledge preferred
  • Ability to communicate in English, written and verbal, Spanish is a plus

Responsibilities

Primary objective is to provide technical and optimization leadership and supervise the Process Department at all stages of all cement manufacturing plants in GCC. Maintain and improve the efficiency for raw grinding systems, pyro systems (kilns, clinker coolers and coal mills), and cement grinding systems through equipment inspections, process audits, monitoring of specific process parameters, and recommending changes to process targets, equipment and/or standard operation procedures, within the existent environmental boundaries and in compliance with cement quality parameters.

  • Direct participation in process audits, guarantee test and commissioning for upgrade/update projects
  • Administration under the GCC model
  • Approach to cost benefit, cost effectiveness and results
  • Develop optimization in the process of production of the group, provide feedback and generate alternative and improvement projects
  • Integration and participation of best practices and lessons learned
  • Standardize practices in the manufacturing process
  • Measuring cost benefit of improvement projects
  • Support staff training
  • Manage change processes
  • Evaluation of alternatives in new process technologies, materials and equipment
  • Advice and support on operational business process issues
  • Conduct process audits to kilns and mills, generate report with recommendations to improve efficiencies
  • Interface with vendors, contractors, and engineering firms whose functions are to provide project support with engineering and technical know-how associated with capital project installations.
  • Provide coordinators, supervisors, and other support staff with technical guidance and advice on all areas of cement manufacturing process engineering, plant operations, design of process equipment, and the application of new technology.
  • Loop Control and evaluation: This includes equipment operation and the quality/consistency of the product throughout the process. Identify equipment deficiencies and work with other departments from the manufacturing team to implement corrections.
  • Circuit Optimization: This includes participation in any changes to the current control program/ lead contributor in any capital projects to increase throughput and/or regularity of mix.
  • Circuit equipment inspection and troubleshooting: This includes walkthroughs of all equipment lines in the raw mills, kilns, and finish mills workshops. Also includes physical inspections (internal and external) of equipment in these areas, such as mills, separators, coolers, dust collectors.
  • Establish, monitor, and maintain standard operation procedures needed to solve typical process and systems problems encountered in the plant.
  • Understand, manage and control pyro process impact in the stack emissions coming from the different environmental permits as NESHAP.
  • Daily monitoring of environmental reports and active participation in the mitigation and control of emissions
