JOB SUMMARY:

The Onsite Senior Process Engineer will perform engineering duties in planning and designing tools, engines, machines, and other mechanically functioning equipment. Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment such as centralized heat, gas, water, and steam systems.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position requires a minimum of 5+ years of engineering experience with a heavy focus on metal fabrication and finishing systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • ISO Certification background preferred
  • 5 years of experience.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Detailed and hands-on oriented.
  • Availability to go to the division from Monday to Friday.
Responsibilities
  1. Departmental Responsibilities:
  • Focus on quality at the source in conjunction with operations and quality team as it relates to production and finishing processes within all areas of manufacturing.
  • Intimate knowledge of the overall paint process and the interaction and dependence of one process on another
  • Extensive working and technical knowledge of paint robotics, fluid control systems, spray guns, electrostatic bells, and other paint application equipment
  • Working knowledge of computers/software applications related to the paint application process.
  • Support insourcing initiatives as a technical expert.
  • Working knowledge of current manufacturing techniques – tooling, welding and robotic automation, metal stamping, assembly, and testing
  • Ability to remain current with state-of-the-art technologies and practices related to the metal stamping and fabrication processes as well as develop innovative solutions to streamline operations.
  • Analyzes complex production and processes. Plans the arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure the most efficient and productive layout. Directs the fabrication of tools and equipment and other functions that affect product performance.
  • Evaluate existing equipment utilization and help develop future state plans to achieve long term strategic goals.
  • Provides process knowledge to major capital projects, cost take out initiatives and NPI introduction projects.
  • Conducts root cause analysis for rejected or faulty parts using the 8D or A3 problem solving process. Must have demonstrated ability to follow up after implementation with permanent corrective actions.
  • Gather data and analyze existing processes for cost savings, reliability, and performance improvement opportunities.
  • Support with Tooling design and implementation
  • Serves as a technical resource and Manufacturing liaison to Supply Management and New Product Development for new and existing parts, products, and processes.
  • Manages resources and monitors status of projects to achieve or exceed targeted outcomes.
  • Work in conjunction with multiple departments within local sites as well as corporate teams to implement process changes and suggest identified opportunities for improvements.
  • Actively participates in training and mentoring fellow employees.
  • Support hoshin achievement by participating in assigned projects.
  • Identify, develop, implement, and monitor projects for continuous improvement.
  • Execute projects assigned within guidelines and timelines established providing scheduled updates.
  • Enforce plant policies, procedures, and collective bargaining agreements (where applicable).
  • Encourage associate participation in SFM and Lean Manufacturing.
  • Support the teams in pursuit of continuous improvement.
  • Promote associate satisfaction and quick response to concerns/issues.
  • Review team visual management systems to acknowledge outstanding performance and assist in removing obstacles to improve performance.
  • Actively support compliance of all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements are met. (OSHA, DNR, EPA, etc.).
  • Encourage continued education. (GED, College Classes, Seminars, etc.)
  • Conduct necessary associate meetings, either departmental or plant wide. (Team, Quality, SFM, etc.)
  • Attend, participate and lead meetings as required.
  • Provide data as required to support operations and other departmental teams.
  • Resolve concerns, issues, and suggestions as identified by the support staff.
  • Work directly with the Engineering Manager to acquire all necessary resources for production improvements.
  • Actively supports the Company’s compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements. (OSHA, DNR, EPA, etc.)
  • Actively supports company compliance such that all safety policies, procedures, and guidelines are followed per written requirements.
  • Submit purchase requisitions for approval within specified guidelines.
  • Build business cases to justify capital expenditures as required.
