About the role  

Reporting to the Process Safety Risk Manager, you will provide technical leadership and specialist expertise in process safety and risk engineering to proactively manage process safety risks, enhance operational integrity, and ensure regulatory compliance across Ampol's Distribution assets, including Major Hazard Facilities. 

The role leads and supports key process safety and risk management activities, including risk identification and assessment, project delivery and assurance, management of change, incident investigation and learning, and process safety performance monitoring. This role can be based in Brisbane or Sydney (preferred), other locations may be considered. 

 

 

Responsibilities:  

  • Plan and prioritise work to meet business needs, drive continuous improvement and build process safety understanding and capability across Distribution. 
  • Provide day-to-day process safety support to Distribution operations, including management of change, facilitation of risk assessments, incident classification and investigation, periodic reviews of control effectiveness, performance monitoring and reporting. 
  • Embed effective operational risk management across Distribution by ensuring all known and emerging risks are appropriately assessed, recorded, escalated and reviewed, and that critical controls and risk treatment actions are effectively managed. 
  • Strengthen operational integrity by reviewing process safety information, safe operating limits and engineering, maintenance and operational practices, and implementing improvements that support safe and reliable operations. 
  • Provide process safety advice and assurance for engineering projects, from project development through to operational readiness and handover. 
  • Undertake activities required to support Major Hazard Facility safety assessments and pipeline licensing, including associated regulatory submissions, engagement and audits. 
  • Analyze specific problems and issues to find the best solutions.  
  • A technical SME to advise and provide recommendations to managers on how to apply a wide variety of existing procedures and precedents.
