YOUR NEW COMPANY

An exciting opportunity to join a busy team within a Regional Council on a temporary engagement. They are currently seeking a Senior Procurement Advisor, to start asap on an ongoing contract. This is a full-time temporary contract from Monday to Friday.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO SUCCEED

We are seeking a well presented and team-focused Senior Procurement Advisor. You will have prior experience leading and managing the effective delivery of cost-effective
Procurement and contract management functions in a multidisciplinary environment.
You will have sound knowledge of the purchasing, public tender process, and understanding of contracts, and it would be highly desirable to have a good understanding of local government procurement and the relevant legislation. You will have strong verbal and written communication skills, consultative and negotiating skills, with the ability to communicate effectively internally and externally.
Chartered Procurement Professional status or training towards MCIPS under the Charted Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) would be desirable, as well as Tertiary qualifications in a discipline relevant to the position ( e.g. accounting, law, business, management, etc) A basic knowledge and understanding of Torres Strait culture and languages would be highly beneficial.

Responsibilities

YOUR NEW ROLE

As the Senior Procurement Advisor, reporting to the Head of Financial Services, you will manage the procurement of goods and services for the Council in a manner that is cost-efficient and effective, in accordance with sound contracting principles to ensure continuity of service delivery.

You will also be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Manage existing procurement functions, services, and contracts to ensure:
  • Effective service delivery for internal stakeholders;
  • Value for money outcomes are achieved aligned to applicable legislation.
  • Assist internal stakeholders procure goods and services for Council including:
  • Obtaining quotes and preparation of reports and recommendations regarding procurement.
  • Oversee the tender process for new procurement opportunities in conjunction with internal stakeholders and existing tender renewals to ensure optimal outcomes and probity.
  • Provide advice to internal stakeholders on effective negotiation and finalisation of contractual arrangements.
  • Lead Council’s contract management practices in line with policy, maintaining the integrity of the Council’s contract register, and providing contract sponsors with advice and direct support throughout the contract cycle.
  • Manage and update applicable pre-qualified, preferred, sole supplier and/or panel listings, ensuring such suppliers are maintained within Tech One.
