The opportunity Reporting to the Procurement & Supply Chain Manager (NZ), the Senior Procurement Lead will play a pivotal role in driving procurement strategy and execution across Downer’s Energy & Utilities projects. This role will see you working at the forefront of bids, tenders, and project mobilisations partnering with senior leaders, project teams, and suppliers to deliver cost-effective, innovative and sustainable solutions. Based in Auckland, New Zealand, you’ll join a high-performing, collaborative team that supports major infrastructure programs critical to communities nationwide. What you’ll do In this role, you will: Lead procurement input into bids and tenders, developing competitive sourcing strategies and vendor engagement plans. Drive strategic sourcing and execution for high-value, complex packages—including negotiation, contract drafting and award. Provide cost intelligence, supply market insights and commercial innovation to support win strategies. Build strong third-party supplier and subcontractor relationships while proactively managing risk, compliance, and performance. Partner with project teams, operational teams, and leadership to ensure procurement strategies align with client, cost, quality, and schedule objectives. What we’re looking for We’re seeking an experienced procurement professional with: 10+ years’ procurement experience within energy, utilities, or infrastructure (Tier 1 preferred). Proven success supporting bids and tenders for high-value projects in the public or private sector. Expertise in sourcing, negotiating and managing complex, high-risk, or long-lead packages. Strong stakeholder management, influencing and negotiation skills. A proactive, ethical leader with the ability to thrive in complex, fast-paced project environments.
