JOB OVERVIEW

The Sr. Product Design Engineer will assist the Product Development Department in the design, development, sourcing, and improvement of innovative products from concept through production. They will create 3-D CAD, engineering drawings, create and maintain other engineering documentation, and will also maintain and administer the PDM system and user access to the same.

REQUIREMENTS

· Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, industrial design engineering or related field is required.
· Ten years of experience in product development and mechanical design engineering is required.
· Or any combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the position.
· Previous experience designing industrial or consumer retail products is preferred.
· Expertise in CAD software: Solidworks, Solidworks PDM, etc.
· Experience administering Solidworks PDM.
· Proficient with MS Office software: Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access.
· Strong knowledge of manufacturing techniques, design considerations and materials for each: machining, die casting, injection molding, stamping, extrusion, and assembly techniques for metals, plastics, and elastic materials.
· Hands-on experience with rapid prototyping, techniques, and materials.
· Experience creating and following engineering procedures, reports, and other documentation.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Experience working with international and domestic factories and suppliers.
· Hands on, mechanically inclined.
· Strong attention to Detail.
· Works well in cross functional team environment.
· Project management experience a plus.
· Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, as well as a creative “out-of-the-box” approach to challenges.
· Highly motivated self-starter.

Work Location: In perso

· Leads product design efforts from concept ideation through detailed design, prototyping, validation, and launch.
· Translates sales and marketing product requirements to quantifiable product specifications.
· Applies advanced engineering techniques, calculations and principles (i.e. Tolerance analysis, Finite Element Analysis, DFM/DFA, FMEA, etc.) to create and refine cost-effective designs for new products that meet specifications.
· Creates 3-D CAD models and engineering drawings using Solidworks.
· Validates that potential sourced products meet internal specifications.
· Improves implementation of Solidworks PDM, ensuring ease of data access to all users.
· Writes procedures for product and components testing, then performs tests and creates test documentation, and analyzes product failures to determine root cause, FMEA.
· Works with domestic and international factories, suppliers, and operations in preparing for manufacturing.
· Collaborates with cross-functional teams including marketing, sales, production, and quality assurance.
· Conducts patent searches, reviews existing patents, and identifies opportunities for new patents.
· Mentors other engineers in proper design, analysis, detailing techniques, and other engineering best practices.
· Supports continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives on existing product lines.
· Ensures compliance with applicable industry standards and regulatory requirements.
· Manages product development and internal projects.
