Description

THE OPPORTUNITY

We’re looking for a Senior Product Designer to work on our Internal Developer Portal (IDP), a platform that streamlines engineering workflows, enhances service visibility, and enables self-service capabilities for users of Datadog. This portal will serve as a central hub for the platform developers responsible for managing services, deployments, documentation, and communication operational insights to their teams and leadership.
As a member of the Internal Developer Portal team, you’ll collaborate with product managers, developers, and other product designers who are responsible for designing and building all the features of IDP that development teams need to drive standardization, best practices, service visibility, and more. You’ll be part of a passionate, close-knit team, and drive the design strategy to help create a seamless user experience for developers navigating complex systems.
At Datadog, we place value in our office culture - the relationships and collaboration it builds and the creativity it brings to the table. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our Datadogs can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.

Responsibilities
  • Act as an end-to-end product designer who can sketch, prototype and see your product through to production.
  • Partner with product managers and engineers to ensure that we build the right product for our customers, and that the design is well-planned, structured, and efficiently executed.
  • Collaborate with the other designers to create and uphold a shared visual language for the Internal Developer Portal.
  • Conduct user research through interviews, usability studies, surveys, and other methods to generate insights that drive user-centric design decisions.
  • Communicate and present your design work and your design decisions to your product team, the design team, and the whole company.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to understand how your designs will be built and Q/A them before we ship.
  • Be the expert in your product area, mentoring other designers on the team to do their best work.
