About the role We have an opportunity for a Senior Product Developer to join our team. This is a pivotal technical role responsible for leading the development, implementation and optimisation of new infant and adult nutrition powder products and technologies. This role is ideal for an experienced food technologist or product developer with deep expertise in infant nutrition powders who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is a full time permanent role working guaranteed minimum 40 hours per week, based in Dunsandel Christchurch. Key responsibilities of this role include.. Leading the technical development of new infant and adult nutrition powder products, including product specifications, formulations, processing conditions, analytical requirements and stability validation Conducting experiments, trials and research to evaluate ingredients, formulations and processing parameters under different manufacturing conditions Designing and executing factory trials and scale-up production runs, including validation prior to commercial transfer Testing for flavour, colour, taste, texture, nutritional content and stability to ensure compliance with customer and regulatory standards Developing and implementing quality control procedures and food safety standards aligned with HACCP and global regulatory frameworks Advising on preserving, processing, packaging, storing and distribution of infant nutrition powders Analysing data and research findings to develop practical, commercially viable applications Leading technical documentation, ERP/BOM management and ensuring integrity of product information Providing technical expertise and support to customers, manufacturing, quality, procurement and sales teams Ensuring compliance with relevant legal, regulatory and safety requirements, including Asian market regulations where applicable Mentoring team members and contributing to continuous improvement within Innovation and Technical Services The salary for this role will be sitting at $115,000 to $135,0000 Skills and Experience The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications, skills and attributes: Bachelor’s degree at level 7 or above in either relevant field of Chemistry, Science or Food Technology required Minimum five years’ experience in technical product development, including experience in infant nutrition powders within a food manufacturing environment Proven experience leading new product development (NPD) projects from concept to commercialisation Experience developing quality control procedures and safety standards Experience operating within Food Safety and HACCP systems Knowledge of China and other Asian market regulations is advantageous Strong knowledge of infant formula product specifications, formulations, processing conditions and product analysis Demonstrated ability to conduct laboratory experiments, pilot trials and scale-up manufacturing validation Strong analytical capability and ability to interpret technical data to inform decisions Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines About us – The Synlait Spirit Synlait is more than a global leader in milk nutrition – we're a purpose-led team that’s Doing Milk Differently For A Healthier World.
