Role Overview We are seeking a Senior Product Development Engineer to lead the technical ownership and engineering development of our furniture systems. This role is responsible for full CAD control, manufacturing documentation, structural validation, and development of mechanical systems including recliners and modular sleeper mechanisms. This position will work directly with overseas factories in Asia and ensure all products are production-ready, optimized, and properly documented. Key Responsibilities Technical Ownership of Existing Products Rebuild and standardize full 3D CAD assemblies for current modular sofa product lines Create detailed part drawings, weldment drawings, and assembly drawings Develop structured Bills of Materials (BOMs) Define materials, hardware, finishes, and tolerances Establish revision control and documentation standards Improve manufacturability and reduce cost through engineering optimization Mechanical System Development Design and engineer foldable steel sleeper mechanisms Develop linkage systems, hinges, pivots, and locking mechanisms Perform load path and structural considerations (static and dynamic) Conduct tolerance stack-up analysis Improve durability and cycle life performance Integrate recliner systems (manual and powered) Manufacturing & Overseas Production Support Prepare complete factory-ready documentation packages Communicate directly with overseas suppliers Review prototypes and pilot production samples Identify root causes of quality issues Ensure consistent production execution Process & System Building Build internal CAD library Standardize components and hardware Develop internal engineering documentation processes Support long-term product scalability Required Qualifications Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Engineering, or related field 5-10+ years experience in furniture systems or mechanical product development Strong proficiency in SolidWorks or equivalent parametric CAD software Experience with steel fabrication and weldments Experience creating full manufacturing drawing packages Strong understanding of tolerances and fabrication processes Experience working with overseas manufacturing partners Preferred Qualifications Experience designing sleeper or recliner mechanisms Familiarity with fatigue and durability testing Experience with modular or transformable systems Basic FEA knowledge Upholstery integration experience Ideal Candidate Profile Strong mechanical problem solver Detail-oriented and structured Comfortable owning technical decisions Manufacturing-focused and practical Cost-aware without compromising safety Location West Hollywood, California (Hybrid) Employment Type Full-Time Minimum Experience Manager/Supervisor Compensation $120,000 - $200,000
