JOIN A MAJOR UK DEFENCE PROGRAMME

We are seeking an experienced Product Safety Engineer to take a lead role in developing and delivering Safety Cases for cutting-edge defence systems. This is a unique opportunity to join a high-impact safety engineering team supporting the Royal Navy’s submarine capability.
This position is ideal for candidates with a background in complex systems safety, functional safety, or control systems safety engineering within the UK defence or high-integrity sectors.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

  • Degree in a STEM discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Proven track record of leading safety teams and delivering functional Safety Cases
  • Strong expertise in safety analysis techniques and system safety justification

DESIRABLE EXPERIENCE:

  • Submarine systems knowledge or experience in other naval/defence platforms
  • Understanding of complex control systems or vehicle control safety
  • Familiarity with MOD safety processes and ALARP principles
Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a small team responsible for delivering functional Safety Cases to agreed schedules
  • Develop detailed functional safety justifications
  • Conduct complex safety analyses, including Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) and Event Tree Analysis (ETA)
  • Communicate effectively with cross-disciplinary teams including Systems Engineers and Human Factors SMEs
  • Ensure compliance with safety requirements and maintain alignment with UK defence safety standards
