Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Senior Program Manager, you will:

  • Lead and manage VU’s strategic preparation for the 2026 National Higher Education Code to Prevent and Respond to Gender-based Violence, ensuring a collaborative and comprehensive approach.
  • Develop and implement the University’s Gender-based Violence Prevention and Response Plan, aligned with institutional strategy and regulatory requirements.
  • Coordinate reporting and progress updates to the Steering Committee and other governance bodies, ensuring timely and accurate communication.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders, including students, to co-design and deliver prevention, education, and response initiatives.
  • Act as the University’s subject-matter expert and liaison on Code-related matters with government and sector stakeholders.
  • Drive continuous improvement in services, policies, and processes related to staff and student safety and wellbeing.
  • Provide strategic advice on external developments impacting the University, including risk identification and mitigation.

TO SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE, YOU WILL HAVE:

  • Proven leadership in complex, enterprise-wide social change initiatives, particularly in Gender-based Violence Prevention, Safety, and Wellbeing.
  • Advanced strategic, planning, and program management skills, with the ability to deliver high-impact initiatives in dynamic environments.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication capabilities, including the ability to influence, negotiate, and build trust across diverse groups.
  • Expertise in regulatory compliance and policy development, especially within the higher education sector and in relation to Gender-based Violence.
  • High-level analytical and reporting skills, with the ability to translate complex data and concepts into clear, compelling communications for varied audiences.
  • Deep understanding of evidence-based prevention and response frameworks, and experience applying these in institutional or community settings.
  • Commitment to inclusive practice and cultural sensitivity, especially when working with communities with lived experience and diverse student and staff cohorts.
