Other DCCEEW office locations may be considered upon availability and request. * Environment Officer Class 10 * Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $134,421 to $148,239 + super   Our Biodiversity and Heritage Regulator (BHR) group is seeking to appoint a Senior Program Officer, Audit & Regulatory Assurance to play a key role in strengthening regulatory governance, transparency and public confidence across NSW. This senior specialist role delivers complex regulatory assurance and review projects that support best practice regulation and continuous improvement in a dynamic and high‑profile operating environment. Working as part of a small, expert Audit & Regulatory Assurance team, you will lead end‑to‑end audit and assurance activities, providing independent, evidence‑based analysis and practical recommendations that enhance regulatory effectiveness and accountability. You will work closely with internal regulatory teams, senior executives and external stakeholders to review programs, identify systemic risks and opportunities, and contribute to the development of assurance frameworks, policies and tools. The team values integrity, collaboration and thoughtful challenge, and operates in a supportive culture focused on quality outcomes and continuous improvement.   About You You are an experienced audit, assurance or regulatory professional with demonstrated success delivering complex reviews in a government, regulatory or compliance‑focused environment. You bring strong knowledge of recognised audit and review methodologies and are confident applying them to assess governance arrangements, regulatory practices and program effectiveness. Your ability to analyse complex legislative, policy and operational information enables you to identify root causes, emerging risks and systemic issues, and translate these into clear, evidence‑based findings and recommendations for senior decision‑makers. Experience in regulatory practice, governance, risk management or program evaluation will be highly regarded. You are a confident and credible communicator, with advanced written skills and the ability to prepare clear, concise reports, briefings and recommendations on sensitive or high‑profile matters. You build strong, trusted relationships and can engage constructively with diverse stakeholders, including regulators, industry representatives and other government agencies. Highly organised and self‑directed, you are comfortable managing multiple projects with competing priorities while maintaining rigour, independence and quality.
