The de Beaumont Foundation is a private charitable foundation that advances policy, builds partnerships, and strengthens public health to create communities where people can achieve their best possible health. We create and invest in bold solutions to make public health work better for everyone, through four main strategies:

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL POSSESS THE ATTRIBUTES ABOVE AND MANY OF THE FOLLOWING PROFESSIONAL ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCES.

• Master’s degree required. MPH, MPP, MPA, or MBA preferred and eight to ten years of relevant work experience, particularly with the public health workforce and/or health communicators in cross-sector roles
• Ability to research best-practices to establish promising, innovative, and best practices to improve approaches to public health communications and messaging
• Proven ability to build and maintain strong professional networks across industries and disciplines.
• Experience leading innovative communication efforts, such as science communication, strategic messaging, de/prebunking, or political communications preferred
• Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead at all levels (up, across, and down), motivate teams, and manage both written and verbal communication effectively
• Excellent organizational and project management abilities, with a keen eye for both the big picture and small details, and a talent for creating systems that improve efficiency
• Self-motivated and adaptable, with a decisive approach to change and competing priorities
• Proven ability to meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of organization
• Able to move quickly and nimbly from one project to another, marshal resources, and manage expectations and timelines to achieve results
• Strong understanding of confidentiality, with the ability to handle sensitive information responsibly
• Proven ability to work both independently as well as in a team-oriented, collaborative environment demonstrating creativity, innovation and excellence, and taking initiative when appropriate
• Strong work ethic and commitment to high standards of excellence coupled with an enthusiastic approach to work
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office required (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
• Experience in negotiating and managing vendor contracts
• Skilled in drafting budget proposals and recommending adjustments as necessary

POSITION OVERVIEW – WHAT YOU’LL DO

Reporting to the Program Director you will have an unparalleled opportunity to contribute to a fast-paced, big-thinking, mission-driven organization. This unique role directly supports and influences the work of one of the nation’s leading health philanthropies.
You will have the opportunity to lead projects, manage key Foundation initiatives, and facilitate the completion of projects with high importance and visibility. Specifically, you will be leading and supporting the Foundation’s programs and initiatives to improve health communications, messaging, and training for public health communicators and other high-impact and high-visibility projects. Your responsibilities will vary and require you to prioritize effectively, act quickly, maintain confidentiality, and bring others along. This position will have a significant influence on the Foundation’s commitment to strengthening the public health communications workforce through training, capacity, and skill development and building partnerships that enhance the sustainability and effectiveness of public health to work and communicate across sectors.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND OPPORTUNITIES

Your day-to-day work will include activities such as:

• Overseeing and managing day-to-day operations of simultaneous high-priority Foundation projects with complex external communications plans and often with high stakes constituents
• Contributing to strategic decision-making and problem-solving by providing timely and relevant information, input, and recommendations
• Independently coordinating with other Foundation staff including Communications, and Research and Evaluation, and Learning Teams to ensure that programs have strong marketing/communications, dissemination, and impact measurement plans
• Independently managing external stakeholder relationships with partners and grantees to ensure that programs meet both the Foundation’s strategic goals and the needs of the public health workforce
• Developing and implementing project workplans while maintaining an understanding of projects, timelines, deliverables, and due dates and ensure timely completion of all tasks
• Preparing meeting agendas and manage follow up on internal and external meetings. When needed, lead meetings and follow up with the relevant parties
• Identifying and prioritizing specific policy, program, and practice goals and outcomes grounded in evidence and centering equity
• Contributing to drafting and co-author blogs, commentaries, books and book chapters, and peer-reviewed articles
• Conceiving and planning Foundation special meetings and events
• Serving as a trusted advisor to the leadership team providing candid opinions and constructive feedback on Foundation matters impacting the public health workforce
• Conducting research, create PowerPoint Presentations, and draft speeches and talking points for external and internal presentations and speaking engagements
