YOUR ROLE
The NSW Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) is a great place to expand your career and grow your skills and knowledge. DCJ works to enable everyone’s right to access justice and help for families through early intervention and inclusion, with benefits for the whole community by providing services that are effective and responsive to community needs.
As a part of the Projects and Policy team you will contribute to the development of best-practice processes, implementation of continuous improvement activities, and program reporting obligations for the CVE Engagement and Support Unit. This includes the evaluation of CVE Programs, procurement and implementation of IT systems, and representing NSW at national CVE forums.
You’ll use your project, research, critical thinking, and contract management skills to deliver projects and initiatives to support building internal and sector capacity and delivery of best practice CVE interventions.
You’ll work as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team and subject matter experts committed to support the continued growth of a capable CVE interventions sector.
AS A MEMBER OF THE CVE ENGAGEMENT SUPPORT UNIT’S PROJECT TEAM, YOU WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FOLLOWING KEY DUTIES:
- Design and implement critical operational reforms and improvements to Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) programs, including the Early Support Program (ESP) and Step Together initiative.
- Identify and mitigate complex and sensitive operational risks affecting the integrity of CVE programs and service improvement projects.
- Prepare a range of sensitive and classified documentation for governance bodies, such as the ESP Multi-Agency Panel. This may include operational performance reports, financial reports, program and project documentation, as well as risk and issue registers.
- Manage and deliver end-to-end projects, including the development and monitoring of project plans, resource mobilisation, budget oversight, and risk management to ensure timely achievement of milestones.
- Apply project management methodologies to achieve effective business outcomes and meet client service delivery needs.
- Deliver multifaceted projects and processes within agreed timeframes and quality standards.
- Manage strategic procurement and contracts for a diverse range of mainstream and CVE-specific service providers, and build capacity within mainstream providers to operate effectively in the CVE space.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, regulations, and guidelines related to procurement and contracting—particularly those concerning the protection of sensitive, classified, and personal information, and fairness in provider and client engagement.
- Engage and consult with senior stakeholders across Child Protection, Youth Justice, Corrective Services, Mental Health, Education, the NSW Police Force, and relevant federal law enforcement and intelligence agencies to ensure integration of program planning, policy development, and service delivery.
- Collaborate with service delivery partners to ensure that interventions are aligned with operational needs and are outcome-focused.
- Monitor program performance, ensuring the timely and accurate provision of performance data to relevant governance bodies.
- Coordinate internal and external reporting requirements for service delivery partners, ensuring compliance with policy and legislative requirements, and alignment with client outcome objectives.
- Provide advice and support to team members, assisting with the delivery of tasks and implementation of program and project plans to facilitate effective program management and delivery.
