WHAT DOES A BACKEND ENGINEER DO AT CLOVER?

We’re Clover, the largest cloud-based integrated commerce operating system for small and medium businesses. You’ve probably seen us in your favorite restaurants and shops; we support over 700k+ merchants worldwide. Clover enables merchants to accept payments, run their business and sell more. In this role, we’re looking for an experienced backend software engineer to help improve/expand our platform and product. You will accomplish this by maintaining and adding new features, investing/reproducing/resolving bugs, creating helpful documentation, and re-architecting our system to achieve better scalability and availability.
Partnering with the Infrastructure, Product and Design teams, you will be pragmatic in balancing priorities and enjoy working in an iterative model where specifications are constantly changing.

• Design and implement REST APIs for mobile and web clients including our web dashboard, 3rd party apps, and payment devices.
• Identify technical requirements in product meetings and assist the business team with realistic project planning and feature development; translate product requirements into functional, maintainable, extensible software that is in-line with company objectives.
• Own your features from development through deployment and production monitoring.
• Participate in design/code reviews.
• Partner with the Infrastructure Team to design data models to support large-scale highly available services.
• Work with QA to develop test plans/strategies.
• Participate in a regular on call rotation.
