Are you excited about learning new technologies? Do you like to experiment to figure out how something works? Do you enjoy making complex information easy to understand? If yes, then we’d love to talk with you!
We are looking for a talented and curious technical writer who is passionate about creating compelling content that makes our users successful.
As a programmer writer at Guidewire, you will use your ability to grasp technical concepts and convert developer-speak into content that speaks to the user. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to create clear, accurate, and engaging content primarily for a developer audience.
To succeed in this role, you must have excellent communication skills, strong technical skills, a hands-on approach, and a self-motivated attitude. Expect to work in a fast-changing and flexible environment where collaboration is key.
Job Description
Key responsibilities
Work closely with developers, product managers, and UX designers to understand our products and target audiences.
Collaborate with other team members to plan and design content for our cloud and AI platforms and services.
Create developer documentation, including API reference topics, developer guides, cross-product solutions, tutorials, and more.
Participate in initiatives to make our content more impactful and relevant to our different audiences.
Required skills and experience
5+ years of experience creating content for enterprise software or developer tools
Excellent writing and communication skills
Experience documenting APIs (preferably REST APIs) and writing code samples and tutorials
Familiarity with web applications, cloud platforms, and AI concepts
A solid understanding of technical communication best practices, topic-based authoring, and structured content
Ability to learn independently—by talking to engineers, digging into the code, and trying things out yourself
Strong collaboration skills and experience working with cross-functional teams
Preferably, you also have some of the following:
Knowledge of Swagger/OpenAPI, Git Markdown, DITA, or XML
A background in creating developer-first content such as quickstarts, walkthroughs, and use-case-driven tutorials
Experience working across teams to create end-to-end solutions that span multiple areas
Familiarity with Agile development practices
Ability to create or contribute to videos, demos, and interactive tutorials
About the Information Experience team
We create and publish content that helps our users successfully deploy, customize, and use our applications.
Our audience includes business analysts, technical consultants, and programmers.
We are passionate about customer success.
We strive to create a great information experience for our users by providing them the right information when and where they need it.
What we offer you:
An open, collaborative, and supportive work environment
Peers who are dedicated to creating high-quality user-centered content
Opportunities participate in initiatives to improve the information experience for our users
Freedom to experiment, innovate, and learn best practices and new technologies
