We are currently looking for an experienced, Vancouver-based Sr. Project Accountant to join our crew! READY TO LAUNCH? Do you want to join the Finance team of one of the most exciting space companies at the forefront of global change detection/change monitoring? We are looking for a Sr. Project Accountant who will be a dedicated resource providing project accounting support for several exciting space mission projects. This is a Vancouver-based hybrid position, with some in-office work required. Candidates must have full-time availability during the business hours of 9am-5:30pm Monday through Friday. Occasional overtime may be required. PREPARE FOR IMPACT! Reporting to the Director of Project Management, and working closely with team members from both Finance and Programs teams, the Sr. Project Accountant will be responsible for preparing project costing, revenue recognition related to projects, project invoicing, and providing timely and accurate reporting. Responsibilities include: Project Accounting Responsible for accounting, reporting and finance functions relevant to capital and revenue basis projects Maintain financial models in Excel for project costings, scenario analysis, and other ad hoc analysis Prepare and submit financial claims under various Canadian Government R&D funding programs Review of New Claims & Projects & Project contracts / Support Programs team Support new project bids - by providing costing templates and detailed costing review Prepare and maintain new and ongoing projects in NetSuite Work with Program Managers to determine optimal project resource allocations and help ensure timely and accurate completion of internal timesheets (includes generating reports in excel to compare actuals vs. what was forecasted for a specific month) Support to project related business process analysis and improvement Prepare quarterly PO reconciliation Support with updating project labour rates and overhead allocations on quarterly basis Support subcontract invoicing, POs and track payment milestone schedules Manage risk approval process based on inputs from PMs Manage monthly reporting schedule based on financial reporting requirements to stakeholders. Budgeting & Forecasting Work closely with Programs team to proactively update project staffing plans, P&L, budgeting and cash flow forecasts meeting strict deadlines Monthly Status Reports (MSRs) showing variance analysis, ETC, EAC, forecast maintenance (R&D and Gov't funding), and contribution table. This includes detailed knowledge of the entire MSR file and supporting the PM to validate the data in the file monthly Monthly Program Report updates for EDC showing variance analysis, ETC, EAC, forecast Weekly Cash Planning & Cash Flow forecasting support for projects Financing Reporting & Close Support Support month-end close by preparing inputs for capitalized development costs, R&D allocations, and various accruals (including working closely with the government customers) Prepare revenue recognition spreadsheet & government funding working papers Non-Labour Project Coding for costs incurred per project Assisting with the preparation of year-end financial statements and the annual audit YOUR PAST MISSIONS Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field CPA designation (or working towards) an asset 5+ years experience in project accounting and management reporting Experience with government grants and SR&ED is an asset Experience with ERPs (Netsuite preferred) / other project accounting software Experience with SharePoint Experience working in project environment and understanding project management processes and language (e.g. WBS, ETC, EAC, WPDs, etc.) Experience with Government R&D projects and accounting rules Experience with month-end closings, journal entries, reconciliations and AR/AP High-tech industry (or similar) experience an asset YOUR TOOLKIT Strong knowledge of US GAAP/IFRS, particularly with respect to revenue recognition, cost of sales, and capitalization Expertise in building large Excel spreadsheets and maintaining them under collaborative editing Excellent customer service and written/verbal communication skills Meticulous attention to detail Proficient troubleshooter with expertise in identifying and resolving issues promptly Team-oriented professional who appreciates coordinating with various teams to ensure seamless collaboration and project success Ability to work in a highly collaborative environment and “pitch-in” where necessary Self-motivated, resourceful, results-driven professional with the ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment An orientation towards continuous process improvement possessing an innate desire to improve processes and service Naturally oriented towards understanding the business and purpose behind the numbers An interest in applying technology and new systems and tools to improve processes, including AI YOUR COMPENSATION Base Salary Range: $80,000-$100,000 CAD annually The range is based on Vancouver, BC-derived compensation for this role. Individual placement in the range is determined based on many factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications. The top end of the range is typically reserved for individuals that meet or exceed all required qualifications and show demonstrated experience and expertise in all responsibilities of the role.
