JOB DESCRIPTION:

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Accountant to join the Helicopters Division of Leonardo.
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you will provide effective business and financial leadership, governance, financial control and business support to the AW101 line of business to deliver on financial commitments.
In this role, you will be financially responsible for significant long term contract(s), providing financial direction and advice to the programme leadership, ensuring controls are implemented and maintained and ensuring budgeting, forecasting and reporting of the programme financials in compliance of with IFRS and contractual obligations.
You will also represent finance within the Programme IPTs, working alongside other functional leads as part of the IPT construct.
Please note that this role is a JFF Level 8 (Business Support)

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU:

  • Qualified accountant with >5 years’ experience working on high-value long-term complex programmes.
  • Good business acumen with the willingness and drive to see through change.
  • Interpersonal and team skills (ability to effectively communicate and interact at all levels within the organisation). Support in representing the company through engagement with customers and partners.
  • Good critical thinker; analytical skills; strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work on own initiative across cross functional teams.
  • Demonstrable IT knowledge – Microsoft (Excel, Word etc.); ERP (preferably SAP) and associated reporting tools preferred but not essential.
  • Flexible approach to work and ability to work to tight deadlines.
Responsibilities
  • Financial responsibility for the 101 portfolio of long-term contracts with the UK MoD and Export customers, including monthly reporting, forecasting and budgeting.
  • Work closely with Head of 101 Programmes and as a member of the IPT, provide financial challenge, support and control to the programmes, with appropriate contract analysis and reporting to support Programme Managers and business meetings.
  • Manage the timely delivery of contract forecasts under your responsibility, ensuring accuracy and robust forecasts to complete and outturn profitability, with clear understanding of risk register, opportunities and dependencies alongside PM. To include:
  • Contract costs to complete along with associated schedules
  • Cash forecasting and support to treasury management for the programme, income and expenditures
  • All Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet items pertinent to the contract
  • Milestone reporting
  • Order Intake & Order Book forecasting
  • Variance analysis
  • Manage the timely and accurate month-end financial reporting as appropriate, ensuring correct use of SAP in terms of contract structure and maintenance thereof, compliance with IFRS applications to enable performance reporting.
  • Work with the business as necessary to support ad hoc requests from the Finance Management team.
  • Ensure compliance with SSRO (legal) requirements and support the delivery of cost certificates to the customer as required for these contracts.
  • Work closely with international stakeholders to provide correct consolidated actuals and forecast performance, and to ensure group consolidated performance is understood.
  • Support external and internal audit requirements.
  • Undertake additional duties that will arise from time to time and are consistent with the nature of this role.
  • Manage the annual budget process as part of the wider programmes finance team.
  • Support new bids as required, working closely with the bid finance team to ensure smooth handover of responsibilities as bids transition into delivery.
  • Manage a small team of project accountants to discharge the above responsibilities, including objective setting and performance management.
