About the Department The department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services. The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.

Responsibilities

ABOUT THE ROLE

This is a fixed-term position until 31 December 2025.
As a Senior Project Advisor, you will play a critical role in ensuring the department’s ISP adheres to the ESOS framework and other legislative and regulatory requirements. Your responsibilities will encompass a wide range of compliance activities to maintain the department’s reputation for integrity and commitment to providing a high-quality and compliant ISP for school-aged overseas students in Victorian government schools. Your dedication to regulatory compliance, project management and stakeholder management will contribute to the success and reputation of Victoria within the global education community.

Reporting to the Manager, Strategy and Quality Assurance Unit, the purpose of this role is to lead quality assurance and compliance activities for the ISP in Victorian government schools, including:

  • Contributing to the delivery of a high-quality and compliant ISP in accredited schools.
  • Ensuring the department is meeting its legislative responsibilities to maintain its registration as a CRICOS provider.
  • Leading annual updates to Ministerial Order 819 - Fees for Overseas Students in Government Schools and the International Students - Visa Fee Table.
  • Project managing regulatory or compliance projects and activities around the ISP on behalf of the division, including the ISP complaints and appeals process.

This role may also be required to undertake other work at the direction of the Executive Director, International Education and Partnerships Division.
The role is based at 200 Victoria Parade, East Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.

As part of IEPD, the Strategy and Quality Assurance Unit’s key responsibilities are to:

  • Maintain the integrity of the department’s Commonwealth Register of Institutions and Courses for Overseas Students (CRICOS) registration under the Education Services for Overseas Students (ESOS) Act 2000 (Cth), including overall enrolment cap management, school accreditation, third-party agreements, memoranda of understanding and governance for the International Student Program (ISP).
  • Work with teams across IEPD on projects, policies, procedures and performance and accountability frameworks that ensure delivery of a high-quality and compliant ISP
  • Lead coordination of training materials and resources required to maintain a high-quality and compliant ISP, including in relation to schools
  • Oversee the development of long-term strategic international education programs and projects
  • Oversee annual business and risk planning for IEPD
