Description

Hill International is currently seeking a Senior Project and Construction Manager , based in Milan , to support a Program Management assignment within the hospitality sector , with projects located in Italy and Switzerland .
On-site presence during the construction phase is required.
The Senior Project and Construction Manager will be responsible for ensuring that the assigned project is executed in full alignment with client requirements and overarching business objectives . The position also requires the development and implementation of comprehensive project plans, effective leadership of multidisciplinary teams, and coordination of all project-related activities within established budgetary and scheduling parameters. Responsibilities cover end-to-end project management, comprising planning, design/preconstruction, procurement, construction, commissioning, and final handover.
As a Senior Project and Construction Manager , you will be responsible for the day-to-day oversight of on-site construction and handover activities . Your role will include the administration of project construction contracts , coordination of contractor activities, liaison with permitting and utility agencies, and interaction with relevant inspection authorities.
You will be accountable for monitoring all contractual deliverables , ensuring the quality assurance of works executed by contractors, and verifying that all activities comply with established technical standards. In addition, you will supervise the scheduling, facilitation, and documentation of key construction-related meetings—including progress reviews, safety briefings, and inspections—and ensure the timely distribution of accurate meeting minutes.
Moreover, you will play a pivotal role in coordinating the permitting process , serving as a key liaison with relevant authorities. Your responsibilities will include reviewing and coordinating technical documentation , as well as managing and monitoring the permitting schedule to ensure timely submission, follow-up, and approval of all necessary regulatory authorizations in alignment with the overall project timeline.

You will report directly to the Project Director and collaborate closely with design consultants, contractors, hotel operators, FF&E teams, brand standards representatives, specialist consultants, and internal project management teams to ensure seamless coordination across all project phases and full alignment with both strategic objectives and the specific operational and branding requirements of the hospitality sector.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (engineering, architecture, construction management, or equivalent professional experience).
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in construction and project management.
  • Fluency in English is mandatory; proficiency in French and/or German is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience in the hospitality (hotellerie) or retail sectors is essential.
  • International project experience is considered a strong advantage.
  • Strong project planning and scheduling skills; proficiency in Primavera P6 and MS Project is considered an advantage .
  • Experience with FIDIC contracts is considered an advantage.
  • Professional certifications such as PMI, PRINCE2, AGILE , and/or sustainability credentials ( LEED, BREEAM ) are considered a strong asset.
  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • The position is based in Milan , with regular travel to project sites across Italy and Switzerland as needed.
