RK&K is hiring a dynamic Transportation Senior Project Delivery Leader, to join our DC team. This is an outstanding opportunity to help lead and grow a group of extremely talented engineers on current and upcoming highway planning and design projects in the mid-Atlantic region.   Essential Functions The position will provide a wide variety of lead and support roles on various transportation/highway engineering tasks. Job functions may include: * Lead large and multifaceted transportation design projects in a dynamic, fast-paced team-oriented environment to ensure deliverables are completed within budget and on schedule. * Assist with the growth with various clients including DDOT. * Review and certify engineering plans, models and documents to meet quality control goals and standards of care. * Perform engineering planning tasks including preparation of conceptual road plans and alternatives analysis for new transportation systems or retrofits to existing systems, design alteration and modification of existing transportation systems to improve safety or function, prepare alternatives analyses reports for concept roadway improvements. * Analyze and develop interchange alternative studies to meet purpose and need and recommend design solutions. * Mentor engineering and technician staff on transportation design tasks. * Strong understanding of highway design standards, current software and other highway design manuals, trends and guidelines. * Produce and oversee construction documents, specifications, and construction cost estimates. * Prepare for and facilitate internal and client meetings, presentations and approval of plans. * Direct project staff and sub-consultants on various projects and assignments. * Serve as liaison between clients and firm. * Coordinate and develop relationships with clients, consultants, government agencies, and project staff. * Support proposal and business development efforts across RK&K. * Manage existing and new contracts, including progress reports and invoicing.   Required Skills and Experience  * Fifteen (15) years of experience in civil engineering design and/or transportation/highway engineering * Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program * Professional Engineer (P.E.) license, preferably in DC * Expertise in OpenRoads Designer / Microstation / Geopak / InRoads and strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel * In-depth understanding of Highway Design Standards, MUTCD, DDOT, VDOT, AASHTO and other highway design manuals and guidelines * In-depth understanding of DDOT standards and procedures   Preferred Skills and Experience  * Strong communications skills * Experience managing staff and teams as well as projects Other Duties This job description indicates the general nature and level of work, knowledge, skills, abilities, and other essential functions (as covered under ADA).
