Job Description Primary Task(s) Project Development Accountable for Project Development of wind, solar, battery energy storage system, and Power to X projects in South Africa. Drive the entire development process from pre-feasibility (S0) to feasibility and procurement stages to a fully permitted project(s) (S5). Manage the EIA process for renewable energy projects under NEMA, as amended. Play a key role in advancing grid connection possibilities with the national, municipal and private system/grid operators. Guarantee all development permits and authorisations in order to reach Commercialisation (G5 / S4). Actively participate with bid prepartion and co-ordinating responses to private and public procurement processes. Drive the handover process to the Project Execution team. Manage with business development, site and project acquisition. Assist with site identification and project acquisition. Conclude the filing of signed agreements where required Use secondary information and develop primary research information to understand where the best development opportunities are. Actively liaise with the Land Manager and work with land acquisition expert consultants for concluding agreements to secure sites. Accountable for Due Diligence Manage the collection data/information as input to due diligence. Manage the filing of necessary documentation needed for the due diligence. Manage the development/set-up of shared repository for participants in the due diligence exercise. Analyse data and reporting on information that is used to make operational, financing and investment decisions. Formulate and present recommendation. Manage Resource Assessment Manage the gathering of data/information as input to the resource evaluation/assessment of site. Provide site specific information to specialist/professional/external company performing the evaluation. Manage the filing of the necessary documentation to ensure easy access. Drive and evaluate the procurement process if external specialist company is appointed. Manage and liaise with internal legal for the execution of contracts and contract management. Project Management Accountable for Project Management and Co-ordination Project Manage projects from inception to G4 commercialisation approval. Coordinate multi-functional teams to achieve organisational objectives for project development. Ownership of project timelines by coordinating internal workstreams and tracking progress against key development milestones. Develop and maintain high-level project schedules and ensure alignment across workstreams. Lead internal project meetings, document decisions, and ensure follow-up actions are executed. Identify and flag project risks or delays and proactively work with relevant stakeholders to resolve issues. Coordinate external consultants, ensuring deliverables are received on time, within budget, and to required standards. Ensure project documentation, approvals, and version control are consistently maintained and accessible via shared platforms. Collaborate with the PMO to ensure all Project Management standards are met. People Management Manage Project Development Interns, and Junior Project Developers. Provide leadership, mentorship, and day-to-day guidance to junior and mid-level project developers and interns. Support the onboarding and development of new team members, ensuring alignment with company processes, tools, and standards. Delegate work effectively while maintaining accountability for quality, timelines, and outcomes. Foster a collaborative and high-performance team culture, encouraging continuous learning and professional growth. Contribute to capacity planning and team resourcing discussions with the Team Lead. Provide performance feedback and input into development plans for reportees or mentees where applicable. Qualifications Field of Study: Qualifications in Environmental, Geography, Urban / Town planning, Finance or commerce/business. Type of Training: Bachelor or Post graduate degree in the relevant Field of Study Relevant Professional Experience: 6+ years relevant experience Additional qualification(s)/certificates: Postgraduate Qualification preferred Experience: Extensive knowledge and understanding of project finance Experience and understanding of technical grid connection requirements Knowledge of project development and management Corporate Social Investment IT Knowledge (systems, software, ...) Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Power Point, Word) Working knowledge of GIS software such as ArcGIS Some knowledge of Project Management software, e.g. MS Project Experience with either Wasp, WindPro, Windfarm, Open Winds or other resource assessment platform will be an advantage Additional Information Personal Competencies Communicative Skills Objective and professional conviction Ability to work in a team Emotional influence and conviction (negotiation, sales, leadership, conflict and crisis management) Foreign Language Skills Business fluent in English, another South African official language and German are a plus All positions are open to both full-time and part-time work.
