Description DUTIES: We seek a Senior Project Engineer based out of our office at 4554 Glenmeade Lane, Auburn Hills, MI 48326. Note, this position does not require travel. Lead projects in development of compression ignition engines, spark-ignited engines, diesel engine aftertreatment systems, electrified powertrains, and fuel cell systems for on-road and off-road applications. Conduct model-based development activities for advanced powertrain concepts, fuel-cell systems, engine combustion systems, and powertrain thermal management systems, which includes: system simulation, control strategy development, controls validation, and virtual calibration. Manage projects, mentor lesser experienced engineers, and provide general technical direction to the project team as required. Provide customer communication, which includes: presentation of analysis results, data correlation, interpretation of technical data, communication of program status, as well as, guiding technical discussions regarding project direction. Support proposal preparation efforts which includes: writing, resource planning, and reviewing prior to submission to the customer. Contribute to research and studies that lead to industry publications and patent applications. Requirements MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Engineering and 36 months of experience in job offered or related position in engine, hybrid, and fuel cell powertrain development Required experience must include: Experience with model-based development for compression ignition engines (diesel), spark-ignited engines (ethanol, CNG), hybrid powertrains, fuel cell powertrains, and vehicle thermal management systems; Experience conducting development activities in propulsion system simulation, thermal system simulation (motor, battery, fuel cells, and cabin HVAC), engine thermodynamic simulation, powertrain control strategy development, control strategy validation in Model-in-the-Loop (MiL) / Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) environment, and virtual calibration; Experience with simulation modeling including: GT-SUITE (for engine thermodynamic simulation, fuel cell system simulation, vehicle propulsion simulation, and vehicle thermal system simulation), GT-SUITE-RT (for real-time engine and vehicle system simulation), and GT-RealDrive (for real drive cycle generation); Experience with tools such as Matlab / Simulink for control software development, plant modeling, MiL / HiL modeling, and virtual calibration; Experience with electrified powertrain architecture optimization, advanced energy management, and thermal management control algorithms for fuel cell and hybrid powertrains WORK LOCATION: Auburn Hills, Michigan.
