ABOUT YOU

We’re seeking a result-focused, innovative, self-driven, and well-qualified individual to join our talented team as a Senior Project Engineer for our Torrington, CT facility. Here, you will developcost-effective, timely, high-impact capital improvement projects that meet business growth, operational stability, EHS, and production quality needs by providing expert judgment, analysis, and direction to a project team and by identifying and executing capital projects that address operational deficiencies, meet business opportunity needs, and progress in improving manufacturing facilities, technology, and quality.

You will:

  • Develop staged project deliverables to drive early project feasibility decision making by leading activities such as Scope Development, FMEA, Value Stream Mapping, Process Flow Diagrams, Staged Design Reviews, Component and System Bid Specifications and Scope of Work, Conceptual Estimates, Project Business Case Presentations and Project Charters
  • Execute high-quality, low-risk projects through the development of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams, Layout Diagrams, Detail Component Specifications, Instrument Specifications, and Automation Control Descriptions. Responsible for the installation of projects including direct supervision of construction forces and assuring a safe, workable installation.
  • Develop project design by utilizing educational foundations in fluid dynamics, heat transfer, process control and unit operations as well as third party expertise in Mechanical, Civil, Structural, Electrical and Regulatory Compliance for design development, system analysis and design comparisons
  • Plan capital resources and manage project cost by defining facilities and equipment current and future needs, developing Progressive Cost Estimates, analyzing Competitive Bids, and coordinating with vendors and subcontractors on managing Project Costs. Responsible for tracking and managing timeline, spend, and forecasting of responsible projects.
  • Promote strong stakeholder communication and awareness by means of staged project reviews, detail design / FMEA reviews, Business Case Development presentation and advocacy, Project Commissioning and Close Out Planning
  • Promote innovation in capital improvements by maintaining technical knowledge through ongoing relationships with equipment, systems vendors, participation in professional development in chemical engineering, instrumentation, automation and project management; and through dissemination of knowledge to stakeholders

REQUIREMENTS

You should have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • PMP Certification is a desired attribute
  • Educational foundation and experience with pumping systems, agitation, piping and vessel design, process safety systems, instrumentation, and conceptual automation design.
  • AUTOCAD desirable.
  • Strong familiarity with building codes, safety and OSHA regulations for construction and general industry
  • Experience executing projects in a Process Safety covered facility
  • 7+ years in chemical manufacturing capital project development, process engineering
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
