Description
Hitachi Rail is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated Senior Project Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic. The position is based in Brisbane, Australia.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Supports Sequence Engineering Manager and Design Manager; preparing reports, attending technical meetings, tracking, and coordinating technical activities.
  • Drive the implementation of the technical solution within the assigned scope.
  • Monitor document submission in terms of on time, on quality and on budget.
  • Coordinate project technical activities in line with the procedure implementing design and verification process (i.e. design review).
  • Ensure the technical interface activities toward the Customer, Authorities and the partners, in case of consortium configuration.
  • Ensure that project objectives are clearly communicated to the project team and monitor technical project activities ensuring they align with the project schedule.
  • Guarantee the execution of the Verification activities by monitoring their execution and in accordance with the V&V Plan.
  • Contribute to the definition and execution of T&C activities.
  • Ensuring all activities undertaken are conducted with due regard to a high level of continuous improvement and a high level of safety.

KEY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Degree in Engineering or Computer Science with background in Systems Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in a Project Management or Project Engineering role, with experience in rail, systems and signalling.
  • Experience in turnkey projects (within rail signalling) highly desirable, particularly delivering systems such as ETCS, ERTMS and CBTC.
  • Experience in effective resource management and working with a large multi-cultural team.
  • Experience in real-time system engineering; testing and integration activities, software verification and validation best practices and safety critical techniques.
  • Agile mindset, able to take prompt decisions in a challenging environment.
  • Ability to analyse data and draw insights to inform decision-making.
  • Ability to form and build key stakeholder relationships.
