ABOUT THE PROJECT:

John Holland and Seymour Whyte have been engaged to deliver the Beerburrum to Nambour (B2N) Rail Upgrade Stage 1 project. The project is set to increase the capacity and reliability of the North Coast Line, enabling more efficient travel and improved passenger and freight connections between the Sunshine Coast, Moreton Bay, Brisbane and beyond.
We are looking for a Senior Project Engineer to coordinate the on-site engineering function, to achieve time and budget objectives and provide efficient support for construction activities.

KEY REQUIREMENTS:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
  • Demonstrated experience working on rail / highway / bridge projects in Australia
  • 7-10+ years’ total postgraduate experience, ideally in a tier one contractor setting
  • Leadership ability to provide mentorship to direct reports includnig Project and Site Engineers
  • Ideally one experience as a Senior Project Engineer at minimum
  • Demonstrated commercial experience to include planning and reporting on progress, cost and risk
  • Demonstrated personal commitment to health and safety

Responsibilities
  • Manage on-site engineering functions through subordinates, including site engineers, project engineers and cost / planning resources
  • Obtain relevant design parameter information for incorporation into detailed designs and construction specifications
  • Monitor quality and quantities of incoming equipment and material, check work drawings, construction and specifications against site plans and conditions and arrange corrections or modifications where necessary
  • Coordinate the activities of an engineering team, programme workloads and provide technical and administrative guidance to the engineering staff to ensure aims and objectives are effectively and economically achieved
  • Ensure that project engineering completion is on time and within budget. Record completed work, costs incurred, materials used and retain progress drawings
  • Produce accurate forecasts of costs and revenue
  • Participate in planning future requirements including machine tools, ancillary equipment, major plant and labour
