Description

Our Senior Project Engineer (m/f/i) will work under the supervision of the global team and supporting the renewable energy certification projects globally. He/she will evaluate design calculations for the approval of wind turbine rotor blades and their components. Depending upon the projects, the expert will be also involved in the rotor blade full-scale blade test evaluation including possible witnesses of non-accredited test laboratories.
This role is a full-time permanent role with a remote working model.
Working closely with the Global team, the Engineer will be responsible for Project execution, Customer management and expanding UL Renewables Certification services in Germany and abroad.

Responsibilities
  • Evaluation of wind turbine rotor blades and their components according to international standards like IEC 61400-1
  • Structural analysis and finite element calculations with commercialized numerical simulation tools (ANSYS)
  • Inspection of manufacturer’s facilities to witness the correct implementation of specific rotor blade designs in the manufacturing process
  • Communication with internal and external stakeholders
  • Identify possibilities and techniques to improve and automate internal calculations & processes
  • Masters/Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/ Structural/ Aerospace Engineering or any equivalent field
  • Minimum 2-5 years of relevant experience in structural analysis, fatigue failure, FEA calculations, and fiber-reinforced plastic materials
  • Experience in commercialized numerical simulation tools (ANSYS, ABAQUS or similar)
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes of fiber-reinforced plastic materials
  • Knowledge of classical laminate theory and composite failure criteria
  • Willingness to travel (within Germany and outside the country)
  • Good German & English language skills (written and spoken)
  • German language skill is highly desirable
