  • Temporary full-time opportunity to 31 December 2026
  • Office location upon negotiation across NSW, hybrid working supported
  • Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $144,058 to $151,227 + super

Join a team of professionals in the Reconnecting River Country Program, a key Murray-Darling Basin Plan initiative designed to improve the health of the environment through relaxing constraints to enable flexible delivery of water for environment. The program aims to connect rivers to wetlands and floodplains through working with First Nations people, landholders and broader community to achieve quadruple bottom line outcomes.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Develop and maintain effective networks with internal and external stakeholders and seek expert advice, support and assistance to ensure effective implementation and governance of projects.
  • Manage the planning and delivery of projects by sourcing, deploying and managing resources, implementing project management techniques and practices and engaging with contractors, consultants and project team members.
  • Monitor, review, and advise on the content and quality of deliverables to ensure projects meet program and Water Group requirements.
  • Provide high level technical leadership and advice to external service providers and internal teams for analysis of options, submissions, briefings and project reports including project coordination and contract management advice.
  • Direct and coordinate the management of technical reviews, provide highest level technical advice and ensure the consistent application of standards and technical excellence through all phases of project delivery.
  • Implement and lead collaborative relationships between technical services and project teams across Water Group, ensuring accountability, problem solving and project successes.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Appropriate trade, post-trade or tertiary qualifications in relevant engineering discipline acceptable for membership in the Institute of Engineers Australia.
  • A valid NSW Driver’s Licence and willingness to drive to remote locations which may include overnight stays.

Responsibilities

The Senior Project Engineer plays a key role in the Reconnecting River Country Program by leading hydraulic modelling efforts to support project planning and execution. The role develops modelling strategies, oversees internal and external modelling work to ensures quality and timeliness, and helps integrate modelling insights into project decisions. The role also contributes to stakeholder engagement to build trust in modelling approaches and gather feedback for continuous improvement.
