Description:

Are you an experienced professional engineer who enjoys working collaboratively? We have an exciting opportunity to join us as a Senior Project Engineer in the Machining Group at The University of Sheffield Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre.
You will be primarily responsible for the execution of research and developing innovative solutions to manufacturing problems. Working as part of a team, you will draw upon your manufacturing experience, researching and trialling new technologies and developing processes which help our customers drive step change improvements in manufacturing performance.
Our work is diverse and exciting and can vary from designing concepts, optimising processes to developing demonstrators. We are seeking candidates who ideally have a good honors degree in an engineering field or equivalent experience in machining. You will also have experience with CAD/CAM software and NC machining hardware and will hold expert knowledge of machining processes and techniques.
You will show experience of working effectively and efficiently within both small and large teams. Being creative in the analysis and solving of problems with an appreciation of longer-term implications is also key for this role.
As part of this role, you may have the opportunity to travel, both within the UK and internationally.

The Machining Group develop techniques which deliver significant improvements in machining performance and span Machining Dynamics, Cutting Technology, Process Modelling and Simulation, Grinding, CAM Development, Gear Manufacturing, Emerging Technology, Process Planning and Sustainable Manufacture.
Allied to this research activity the machining group develop processes using techniques created by the technology teams and make demonstration components to prove these processes, so that they can be introduced into industry with real impact. This includes components and fixturing associated with key sectors; Aerospace, Automotive, Future Propulsion, Medical and Defence.
