ISL’s Water Team is currently made up of 25 individuals who have close working relationships centered around water and wastewater infrastructure projects. We have expertise in water and wastewater treatment, pumping/lift stations and reservoirs, linear infrastructure for collection and distribution and water resources planning.

SALARY RANGE FOR OPPORTUNITY (BASED ON QUALIFICATIONS):

  • $95,000 - $145,000 annually.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

You will be an integral part of a multidisciplinary team of engineers, designers, and technologists responsible for the design and construction of municipal infrastructure projects for our public and private sector clients. Your principal project focus will be on water and wastewater process-mechanical systems which includes water/wastewater treatment, water/drainage pump stations, sanitary lift stations, water reservoirs and pressure reducing valve stations.
Your day-to-day work will include collaboration with other engineers and project managers/leads to support our municipal engineering teams across Western Canada.

YOUR PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Managing and leading projects of varying size and complexity across BC which includes client liaising, managing project budgets, ensuring deliverables are completed, directing the work of others to maintain project schedules, and being responsible for project metrics.
  • Providing direction, guidance, and oversight to others to complete proposals, deliverables, and projects.
  • Completion of specific tasks to support the planning, analysis, development, and design of water, wastewater, and drainage systems by others. This includes the production of process flow diagrams, process and instrument diagrams and process layout drawings.
  • Continuous development of your own skills and knowledge to complete / support the sizing and selection of process equipment, pumping equipment and pipework for water, wastewater and drainage systems.
  • Preparation of engineering reports, documents, technical specifications, and drawings (in collaboration with other team members and disciplines).
  • Practice and maintenance of good quality control and documentation standards on all projects, including:
  • Self-checking of your own deliverables and engaging with other team members for review of your work.
  • The completion of reviews and quality control of the work of others, including the provision of feedback / comments and engagement to achieve resolution.
  • Supporting the project management and construction administration of ISL’s water / wastewater projects across BC, Alberta, and Saskatchewan. Tasks may include responding to technical questions, providing clarifications, completion of periodic field reviews and the commissioning of process-mechanical systems that you have designed.
  • Contributing to the preparation of proposals and business development activities within our existing and expanding client base throughout Western Canada.
  • Interacting effectively and professionally with client representatives, contractors, project stakeholders, co-workers and industry peers, providing them with excellent service and timely responses.
  • Mentoring our intermediate and junior staff to support their own career goals.
  • Coordinating our CAD design technologists and E.I.Ts to prepare design and project deliverables.
  • Develop and maintain ongoing client relationships and promote the work / skills of ISL across Western Canada.
