JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Senior Project Manager (Project Manager II) will be responsible for leading project teams, coordinating with stakeholders, tracking progress, and delivering projects on time and within budget.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Strong leadership and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively manage teams and client relationships.
  • Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think on your feet and adapt quickly to changes.
  • Proficiency in construction management software (Procore, PlanGrid, Primavera, Microsoft Project).
  • Ability to manage project teams effectively, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are consistently met.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction methodologies, building codes, and safety standards.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods and work on a computer.
  • Occasionally lift up to 15 pounds.
  • Regular travel to job sites throughout Southern California is required.
  • Ability to attend pre-bid conferences, site inspections, and progress meetings as needed.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • At least 6 years of experience managing commercial construction projects, with a minimum of 4 years specifically in public sector construction projects in California.
  • Proven experience managing building construction projects (public and/or commercial).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • PMP, PgMP, CAPM, or similar project management certifications are highly desirable.
  • In-depth experience working on large-scale, high-budget construction projects.
Responsibilities

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Project Leadership: Lead and manage multiple construction projects from inception to completion. Define project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Team Supervision: Directly supervise and mentor Project Managers, Superintendents, and other team members. Ensure all roles are filled with qualified personnel and that work is delegated efficiently.
  • Schedule and Budget Management: Establish and manage baseline project schedules and budgets, utilizing tools like Primavera, Procore, and Microsoft Project. Track project milestones and adjust as needed to meet deadlines and stay within budget.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Maintain regular communication with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and other key stakeholders to ensure clear expectations and address any concerns or changes.
  • Risk Management: Proactively identify potential risks and create contingency plans. Handle changes to project scope, schedule, or costs and ensure they are communicated effectively to all stakeholders.
  • Quality Control: Ensure projects meet or exceed quality standards. Perform site inspections regularly to monitor progress, safety compliance, and adherence to contract specifications.
  • Post-Project Evaluation: Conduct post-project reviews to identify successes and areas for improvement. Generate detailed reports with recommendations for future projects.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all projects comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including permitting, inspections, and safety standards.
