BACKGROUND, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

You possess 10+ years’ experience including a combination of engineering and project management experience in design, construction, consultant administration, contract administration and construction inspection; University Degree in Civil Engineering with Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation preferred. An equivalent combination of education and experience on utility infrastructure projects would also be considered. Experience in municipal or consulting engineering would be desirable. You possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence for the Province of British Columbia. You have Project Management Professional (PMP) credentials (recommended). You are registered or eligible for registration with the relevant professional association in British Columbia (EGBC, ASTTBC).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • You possess strong municipal engineering technical knowledge in design and construction including the Master Municipal Construction Document and City Specifications.
  • You are proficient in managing projects designed by internal and external engineering consultants, and constructed by City forces or contractors.
  • You have strong knowledge of regulatory and contract management risks and issues.
  • You are able to prepare and present reports and presentations to Senior Management, Committees, Council and Mayor, and external organizations as directed, and are able to adapt and lead change using superior interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills.
  • You are able to deal effectively with elected officials and the public with tact and diplomacy.
